IBBY UK is resuming its popular one-day conference for the first time since 2019. This year’s conference is titled – Pages for Power and Protest: Politics and Children’s Literature. The theme of politics and books for children and young people is both topical and of great importance. The conference will be held at CLPE in London on 11 November 2023.

Plenary speakers include:

Beverley Naidoo, in conversation with Helen King about her writing career and her latest book, Children of Stone City

Shelina Janmohamed, author of Story of Now: Let’s Talk about the British Empire

Phyllis Ramage, school librarian and Carnegie Medal judge

Other speakers to be confirmed.

A panel of authors will discuss the importance of publishing working-class writers, and the conference will include the customary optional parallel sessions.

A buffet lunch is included in the price, with plenty of time for networking and catching up with old and new friends.

A bookstall will be provided by the Newham Bookshop.

Booking details are through Eventbrite. We’re looking forward to seeing you there on 11 November 2023!
