7 to 12-year-old children with first-hand experience of diversity or disability were asked the question of what they would tell their younger self about how to cope with their situation.
The text is sparse and it goes very much hand in hand with the creative illustration. The word ‘disability’ does not appear in the text but it is clear that the children may experience negative emotions in response to their situations.
This is a laudable aim for readers of all ages and backgrounds. However, the reviewer would have welcomed more attention being directed to the question of how young people deal with such negative feelings.
