IBBY has announced the Jury for the 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Awards!
“Books make a difference! Children’s right to read in challenging times”
Thursday, 3 April 2025, from 9.00 to 13.15
Sala Concerto, 1st Floor, Services Centre, Wing D,
Bologna Children’s Book Fair
Protecting children’s right to read, to be heard and to access the widest range of books are the themes of this conference. Europe is facing a time of change, politically, socially and economically. Culture, education, children’s literature do not remain on the sidelines at such moments. Children’s books are a tool for the transmission of political, social, educational and moral ideas, and the adults who produce, or make them available, for children must be free from censorship and political intervention.
This IBBY European Regional Conference on Thursday, 3 April 2025, at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair will feature the importance of developing agency for children. It will look at restrictions experienced by publishers, creators, reading promoters, researchers and human rights activists from 12 different countries. And it will work out solutions on how to strengthen the IBBY network in order to make a difference for children and their advocates in these challenging times.
