Eva Eland is a Dutch author and illustrator who lives and works Cambridge.
She earned an MA with distinction in children’s book illustration from the Cambridge School of Art, and has also studied Writing and Audiovisual Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, and Film and Video at the School of Visual Arts in New York. When Sadness Comes to Call, published by Andersen Press, is her debut picture book, and has been translated into over 14 languages. Her second picture book Where Happiness Begins will be published in spring 2020.
She is interested in storytelling, sequential art, printmaking, drawing, psychology and the creative process. A lot of her work starts with an observation or a question, which will be the beginning of an investigation of the subject in words and images – before she finds a way of bringing it back to an essence.
