about us
IBBY UK is the British section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) - a worldwide non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing children and books together.
We support IBBY's mission through a number of events and activities.
Every other year, IBBY UK nominates a British author and illustrator for the international awards, which are presented to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children's literature.
IBBY UK submits three books one in each of the categories of writing, illustration and translation, to the Honour List - a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published artists in the world of children's literature.

The IBBY UK journal, published three times a year on themed subjects, keeps members up to date on current issues and events.
International Children's Book Day
This special day is celebrated each year on or around 2nd April - the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, to highlight the importance of children's books.
Every two years, an international congress is hosted by one of the member countries. In 2012, the 33rd congress - Crossing Boundaries: Translations and Migrations - will be held in London.
IBBY UK undertakes the shortlisting of authors and illustrators who are nominated, every two years, for the Children’s Laureate. For more information see www.childrenslaureate.org.uk
IBBY UK would like to thank Andersen Press for their support.
